General information

There is always a person and a history behind every product. And this is why we would like to introduce ourselves to you today and tell you a little bit about our history.

Founded in 1829, M-real Zanders GmbH has a history full of tradition and one that has always been closely linked to the art of making paper in Bergisch Gladbach. In 1829, Johann Wilhelm Zanders took over the oldest paper mill on the River Strunde, the "Schnabelsmühle", as the sole proprietor. In 1869, the Zanders family also bought the Gohrsmühle, the second oldest mill in Bergisch Gladbach, which is still the headquarters of the company today.

A further milestone in the history of the company was the introduction of CHROMOLUX in 1958. 1965 was the year of the take-over of the Reflex paper factory in Düren. 1992 was marked by the introduction of the PM 3 paper machine at the Gohrsmühle factory in Bergisch Gladbach. In 1999, the logistics centre in Bergisch Gladbach was put into operation. The second logistics centre was opened in Düren in 2001. Over the past decades, Zanders has grown to meet the needs of the markets of the future with its range of strong brands. We are setting standards in quality and customer-orientation.
