Environment

At M-real, environmental protection is an integral element of corporate responsibility which is firmly embedded in all business processes.

We produce products which can be recycled and which chiefly consist of renewable raw materials. This is why we support independent certification of sustainable forestry management and why we strive to continually increase the proportion of certificated wood in our products.

Over and above this, we aim to consistently subject our products, processes and working methods to further development in order to optimise our ecological and energy efficiency. Our objective is to reduce the negative effects that our business may have on the environment to the greatest possible degree.

We pursue a responsible policy regarding raw materials and products and conserve resources by reducing the use of raw materials and energy. A special aspect for us is to handle chemicals in a safe way.
 
With our customers and interest groups, we maintain a policy of transparent communication and convey our environmental performance quite openly and honestly. We publish information about our products and production processes concerning the environment and actively participate in dialogue as regards our environmental activities.
 
This environmental policy is implemented by all our business divisions and at all of our individual production locations, and is supported by environmental programmes and defined environmental objectives derived from these. Our environmental policy is monitored at regular intervals and updated as necessary.
