The manufacturing of fine papers takes place using a variety of different production units. For the paper maker, this means producing high-quality paper using manufacturing and finishing units as parts of this highly varied and interesting job. Research and development and waste water treatment can also fall within the range of responsibilities of the paper maker. Everything has to be organised, coordinated, controlled, and measured in order to ensure that the customer receives the very best in quality. The paper maker receives support from modern process guidance systems which per se form the keystone for operating the production units. Preparation for the complete range of tasks to be carried out takes place directly in practice and in the form of state-of-the-art computer simulations.
